Genial grabación del último concierto de uno de los grupos más importantes de la historia del rock. Filmado y editado por Martin Scorcese, The Last Waltz es el testimonio de una época que se acaba. 1979: el rock ha muerto. Aparece la MTV, el aspecto físico del "artista" es más importante que su música, las drogas han acabado con los que vivieron demasiado rápido y el punk da las últimas estocadas rematando al moribundo. Hoy todavía nos quedan algunos dinosaurios de la generación que revolucionó América y en esta grabación se les ve tan jovencitos... Thanksgiving, 1976, San Francisco's Winterland: the Band performs its last concert after 16 years on the road. Some numbers they do alone, some songs include guest artists from Ronnie Hawkins (their first boss, when they were the Hawks) to Bob Dylan (their last, when as his backup and as a solo group, they came into their own). Scorsese's camera explores the interactions onstage in the making of music. Offstage, he interviews the Band's five members, focusing on the nature of life on the road.
